In 1969, three rock samples from the Moon were brought back to Earth by the Apollo 11 mission. These samples contained three minerals that had never been found on Earth before. Two of these minerals were discovered shortly afterward, but the third mineral - Tranquillityite - was only discovered on earth in 2011, in a small region of Western Australia.
